Aug 2017 - current
NetApp, Richmond, VA: Enterprise Storage architect/Solutions Engineer. I continue my role with the same San Diego customer, but now remotely from Virginia. I size new solutions and have changed my focus from support and transitions towards automation and configuration management. I created and maintain a configuration management engine that analyzes a global footprint of over 100 PB of storage and helps identify and remediate infrastructure inconsistencies and prevents a buildup of technical debt.
Aug 2014 - Aug 2016
NetApp, San Diego, CA: Enterprise Storage architect/System Engineer. Working as a dedicated technical resource for a large chip manufacturer in the San Diego area, I made sure the global footprint of existing NetApp storage continued to operate seamlessly, sized new solutions, and orchestrated consolidations and migrations. This included assisting the customer and local professional services team in transitions more than a hundred systems from 7-mode to consolidated cDOT clusters.

NetApp, San Diego, CA: Critical Problem Resolution engineer (CPR/EE V). NAS and SAN escalated support for the NetApp fabric attached storage systems. Specialized in NAS protocol (NFSv3, NFSv4, CIFS) and core (internal OS processes) support for Data ONTAP® 8.0/8.1/8.2 Cluster-Mode (clustered Data ONTAP). Still one of the most heavily relied upon clustered Data ONTAP support engineers in the company, my main tasks included the same as when I was an EE level IV. During this time I gave additional focus to driving supportability improvements into the product to speed up case resolution for anyone troubleshooting cDOT in the future.
August 2012 - Jun 2013
NetApp, Research Triangle Park, NC: Escalation engineer level IV. NAS and SAN escalated support for the NetApp fabric attached storage systems. Specialized in NAS protocol (NFSv3, NFSv4, CIFS) and core (internal OS processes) support for Data ONTAP® 8.0/8.1 Cluster-Mode (clustered Data ONTAP). My tasks included the same as those as TSE level III. As one of the most relied upon clustered Data ONTAP support engineers in the company, I handled the most severe and time critical of customer issues only, guaranteeing fast workarounds, quick isolation and resolution, and excellent customer satisfaction. I acted as an escalation resource for support engineers of any level, as well as any NetApp employee outside of support.
November 2010 - August 2012
NetApp, Research Triangle Park, NC: Technical support Engineer level III. NAS and SAN technical support for the NetApp fabric attached storage systems. Specialized in NFSv3, NFSv4, Data ONTAP® GX/8.0 Cluster-Mode and DataFabric Manager/Oncommand Core support. My main tasks included the same as those as TSE level II. These tasks were extended significantly by working directly with engineering to isolate, communicate and resolve defects in our latest and most state of the art product suite.

Island Training Solutions, Inc., Durham, NC: Senior administrator for UNIX and Windows Systems.  Responsibilities included network, mail, web and DNS server ClearCase® administration.  The server systems included various OSes, e.g. OpenBSD firewalls, SLES/RHEL ClearCase servers, Windows® Domain Controllers and SOLARIS™ NAS servers.  Developed an automated VMware based midsize virtual lab for remote IBM® Rational® training.  Additionally, I Instructed various IBM® Rational® software tools as a substitute teacher for Island Training.
